Questions for Your Cosmetic Dentist

You might know that your smile isn’t as bright and beautiful as it once was, but you might not be exactly sure about the nature of your dental blemishes. If so, then it’s likely you won’t know that you have several options available for treating them, as well. When it comes to improving your smile, you should have plenty of questions for your cosmetic dentist, and the experts at Sensitive Care are happy to answer them for you.

Do teeth stains mean my hygiene routine is poor?

Every day, your teeth are exposed to a wealth of colorful substances, and over time, foods, beverages, and medications can take a toll on their color. Fortunately, most teeth stains don’t mean that your hygiene routine needs improvement; they simply mean that the outside layer of your teeth could likely use a teeth-whitening treatment.

If my tooth is chipped, do I have to cap it with a dental crown?

A dental crown is a replica of a tooth’s crown (the top, visible part of the tooth) and can be placed over a damaged and weakened tooth to improve and protect it. If your tooth is chipped, or slightly cracked, however, you may not have to modify your entire tooth to place a crown over it. Composite-resin tooth bonding or one or more porcelain veneers may provide a more conservative, though equally appealing, solution.

My teeth look crooked, but my bite feels fine: do I still need braces to fix them?

Just a few decades ago, braces were the only way to fix crooked teeth, no matter how severe the case was. These days, you have plenty of options to straighten your teeth according to your unique needs and preferences. Unless your bite is so severely misaligned that orthodontics are a necessity, you may be able to straighten your smile with Invisalign® clear aligners, or our innovative Minor Tooth Movement (MTM®) system—both of which use clear aligners instead of brackets and wires.
