Traditional Braces
Metal Braces are a common type of orthodontic appliance used to correct various orthodontic problems such as crooked and crowded teeth, jaw problems, and a misaligned bite. They consist of high-grade stainless-steel brackets that are attached to the teeth with nontoxic dental cement and a metal archwire. The archwire is threaded through the brackets and tightened to apply gentle pressure to the teeth, gradually moving them into the correct position.
Metal braces are visible when you smile, but you can choose clear or tooth-colored ligatures to make them less noticeable or brightly colored ligatures if you want to add some fun! Either way, they are a reliable and effective option for orthodontic treatment and have become more comfortable, sleeker, and less conspicuous than they once were due to advancements in dental technology.
Lingual Braces are similar to traditional metal braces, but the brackets and wires are placed on the backside of the teeth, making them virtually invisible from the front.
Ceramic Braces are made of clear or tooth-colored material, making them less noticeable than metal braces. They work in the same way as metal braces but are more discreet. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawback to ceramic brackets is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.
