Many patients are afflicted with a common problem known as craze lines. Your Milford cosmetic dentist, Dr. Mitchell I. Crazy Craze Lines Answer Key

The answer to question one is A – chewing on ice cubes. Many patients with craze lines report ice cube chewing as a habit.  Another common habit associated with craze line development is fingernail biting or chewing on pencils. If you notice craze lines beginning to appear, cessation of these habits is recommended.

The answer to question two is C – vertically. In most cases, patients develop craze lines vertically due to the natural process of chewing. Craze lines are usually just surface cracks on tooth enamel which pose little threat to the internal structures of teeth. These lines can be unsightly and cosmetically unappealing if they become discolored or stained so many patients seek to conceal or hide craze lines if possible.

The answer to question three is D – B and C only. Porcelain Veneers and teeth whitening are both effective means for limiting the appearance of craze lines. Veneers offer a more long-term solution to the problem of cosmetically unappealing teeth, and can conceal tiny fractures or even small gaps between teeth. Applied directly to tooth enamel, veneers resist staining and discoloring.

Teeth whitening can provide a simple solution to limiting the appearance of craze lines. Most craze lines become very noticeable once they are stained or discolored due to food particles. When food particles discolor craze lines, simple brushing will not be enough to remove the stains. Following a cleaning, a teeth whitening session could brighten your entire smile and reduce the appearance of craze lines.
